Adapting to the Mediterranean Lifestyle: Marrying into a Spanish Family

Marrying into a Spanish family was one of the most transformative experiences of my life. I met my Spanish husband, Iván, in college where he came to America for track and field as a professional javelin thrower. Our paths crossed, and we hit it off immediately.

In 2017, I traveled to Spain to meet Iván’s family. It was a crash course in real-life Spanish, and I quickly realized that the Spanish I learned in high school was vastly different from what I needed to know to thrive in Spain. This experience pushed me further into the language and culture, and I embraced it wholeheartedly.

Navigating through Iván's large family, learning which cousin is which, and adapting to their lifestyle was initially challenging but ultimately enriching. The Mediterranean lifestyle, with its emphasis on family, multiple meals a day, and afternoon siestas, resonated with me deeply. Being a creative director and CEO allows me the flexibility to incorporate these aspects into my daily routine, making my life feel more abundant and balanced.

Iván and I met in 2016 and married in 2020. Since our marriage, we’ve continued to travel regularly, both for work and leisure. We work together at BRAVO AGENCY, our virtual creative studio, operating across Los Angeles, Madrid, and Austin, Texas. Outside of work, our travels are filled with fun, content creation, and new experiences. Iván, being a talented photographer, and I, always up for an adventure, make the perfect dynamic duo.

Our life together is a blend of American and Spanish cultures, and we cherish every moment of it.
